6 Reasons Running Will Stop Your Dogs Bad Behavior

Entertaining a high-energy dog does not have to be difficult. But leaving that pent-up energy with no outlet to release it will result in bad behaviors.

I noticed that when I let my furry baby Valentino run out in an open field or a beach, he has this pent-up energy that explodes into zoomies. He loves it and is so calm after his run for the rest of the day.

  • Physical Exercise: Running is an excellent form of cardiovascular exercise that helps keep dogs fit and healthy. It strengthens their muscles, improves joint health, and helps maintain a healthy weight.

  • Mental Stimulation: Dogs are highly intelligent, and running can be a way to stimulate their brains. The variety of smells, sounds, and sights they encounter while running can provide a lot of mental enrichment.

  • Energy Release: High-energy dogs, in particular, can benefit from running. It helps them release pent-up energy, which can reduce unwanted behaviors like chewing or excessive barking.

  • Bonding Time: Running together with your dog helps strengthen your bond. It also helps build trust and creates positive associations between you and exercise.

  • Stress Relief: Exercise, including running, helps release endorphins, which can reduce stress and anxiety in dogs, just like it does in humans.

  • Improved Behavior: A tired dog is often a well-behaved dog. Regular running can lead to better behavior because the dog’s energy has been properly channeled.
